ATLANTA - Jan. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Creative Loafing Atlanta’s 2014 “Best Local Playwright” Paris Crayton III takes his turn center stage as Staticc presents Jeff Stetson’s “The Meeting.” Co-presented by the Fulton County West End Performing Arts Center, MAPP (a production company helmed by Crayton III & co-star Marcus Emel) and Staticc, “The Meeting” is the story of a fictional encounter between Minister Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that took place not long before X’s assassination in 1965.

The story is set on Valentine’s Day, in a sky high hotel room in Harlem, and is one act that includes three characters – X (Crayton III), King (Emel) and X’s protective body guard Rashad, played by Staticc Founder Jay Ray. Ray ponders, “I think the most interesting thing about the play is that you’d think it actually took place. It didn’t. The fact that Martin and Malcolm only met briefly during their lifetime is a parallel tragedy to an already catastrophic series of events.”

“The Meeting” marks several firsts – the first stage production for both Staticc and MAPP, the first acting experience for Jay Ray, and the first time vets Crayton III and Emel share the stage together. It is also a first for play Director, Dionna D. Davis, who has previously graced Atlanta stages as an actress.

On 2/13 and 2/14 the production will host a $75 3-course dinner theatre for Valentine’s Day.
Tables can be purchased at a discount for two people and a four person table.
