Olympia Group Setting Ambitious Goals to Accomplish in 2015

SAN ANTONIO - Jan. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- It is not enough to stay consistent. That is the case, at least, according to Josh and his team. They believe that they must always be reaching for new heights of innovation and growth in order to stay ahead in their industry. According to them, any organization that becomes content with itself will undoubtedly fall behind more agile, faster-moving competitors.

“We are always striving to challenge ourselves,” stated Josh. “When we set lofty goals for our company to accomplish together, we always achieve more.”

Josh also talked about how he and the Olympia Group team go about setting goals for themselves. One of the most immediately obvious aspects of the company’s process is that it involves more than just the upper management. Josh explained that it is important to work together so that everyone fully understands the strategic objectives of the business and how they relate to the overall vision.

He also explained that goals do not necessarily have to be growth related. “Many business leaders only talk about sales and revenue growth,” he pointed out. “Despite this, most companies do not have mission statements about making lots of money. There’s normally a grander cause. Goals can be about your mission and vision as well as sales. I find that they typically fall into four categories: service, social, profit, and growth.”

Josh also indicated that it is important to state goals well. He suggested a commonly used method called S.M.A.R.T. which stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. In other words, goals should be something that you team can actually accomplish and should be stated in a way that everyone understands when they have been accomplished.

He continued to offer some insight into how to actually realize those goals. “This should start right from the planning process,” he indicated. “We always make sure everyone in the company knows what our goals are. Part of this is writing them down and displaying them within our office. We also clearly indicate the due dates for each one – the timely aspect of the S.M.A.R.T. system.”

According to Josh, his team works together to visualize what each goal will look like. They use this process to determine what steps are needed to reach them. In general, the Olympia Group team strives to break large goals down into manageable steps.

“It’s important to go about goal setting in the right way,” Josh asserted. “Poorly set goals will not only result in your team not accomplishing much, but they will also hurt morale. Without clearly stated goals, a business becomes somewhat aimless. There are undoubtedly other systems that work too; and I suggest that every business at least have some sort of methodology in place for setting and achieving its strategic objectives.”
