$175,000+ Raised in November for Historic Theatres and Charities with help from Concert Tour

PHOENIX - Dec. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Independent touring and recording artist Scott Helmer, who has opened for iconic acts such as Heart, Eddie Money, 3 Doors Down, Big Country and more, is spending an entire year traveling more than 25,000 miles across America, donating his time and talent by performing 200+ concerts for free in venues ranging from historic theatres to Harley-Davidson dealerships, all to help raise $1 million for good causes.  November alone saw Helmer’s tour help raise more than $175,000.

On November 15 Helmer put on a show in Minneapolis, MN, at the Marriott City Center to benefit Can Do Canines. Staffer Sharon Griff said, “Scott’s performance was awesome! Our group’s president, Al Peters, was so grateful and had a fantastic time!” Helmer went on to Burlington, Iowa, for his concert November 21 at the Capitol Theater to benefit that historic venue where theatre manager Colleen Smith noted, “Scott gave 110% to our audience and we can’t wait to have him back!” And then the very next night Helmer was in St. Joseph, MO at that city’s Civic Arena to benefit Second Harvest Community Food Bank. According to St. Joseph Mayor Bill Falkner, “Scott put on a great show and we loved being a part of his tour!”

The Support YOUR Cause Tour 2014-2015 kicked off on May 17, 2014 with a motorcycle ride and concert to benefit Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) at Los Angeles Harley-Davidson of Anaheim, CA, and wraps up with a benefit for a yet to be determined cause on December 31, 2015.  Until then, historic theatres, charities and good causes can sign up (http://www.scotthelmer.com/pages/support-your-cause-tour-...) to be considered.

First announced in November 2013, Helmer’s tour consists of the entertainer’s offer to all charities and nonprofits across America: Upbeat, energetic solo-acoustic 90 minute set of rock and country favorites along with original material from his new CD, Wake Me When It’s Over, at their fundraising event free of charge. To date, more than 150 groups, including seventy-five historic theatres have signed up, ranging from the Kostopulos Dream Foundation in Salt Lake City, UT to the historic Raymond Theatre in Washington. Helmer will not handle any money or donations on behalf of organizations during his performances on the Support YOUR Cause Tour. “I am simply offering to perform at any fundraising event free of charge, to help them raise money and awareness for their cause,” he explained. His only requirement is that each historic theatre or charity has a goal to raise at least $5,000 during their event.

After making a huge mistake back in 2008 that cost him his livelihood and his family, Helmer hit the reset button on his life, building a new one based on three simple things: Creating music, performing music, and helping others. The singer is also an enthusiastic volunteer for Musicians On Call and will continue his commitment to their efforts during this tour.
