Gladiator Finance's Economic Data Due This Week - 3rd December 2014

It will be a busy time for economists this week.

Ahead of the ECB's meeting in Frankfurt, general consensus is that there will be no real updates as to how and when they will look to implement the proposed government bond buying program. The European Central Bank head, Mario Draghi has repeatedly stated that he is prepared to go to any lengths to protect the European economy from falling further into recession.

This year has seen a multitude of schemes from Draghi that have left far too much on the table. Huge short term loans were made available to Europe's largest banks and their reluctance to buy into this and other similar programs seems to have left the ECB with very few options left.

As the majority of the global markets look to the central banks of China, Japan and Europe to pick up the slack left by the Federal Reserve's exit from QE, we are now starting to see resistance from within Europe, specifically Germany, which being the largest economy in Europe, feels it has more saying power when it comes to European monetary policy. The Bundesbank is looking to stop the ECB from committing to stimulus in the form of QE as it feels it will be far more exposed to the downturn in Europe should it continue.

What we can expect tomorrow is further confirmation that the ECB is working towards a more complete stimulus package and many expect that to be introduced early next year, however it would be rather surprising if we actually receive any hard details about the proposed plan.

Below is a selection of the economic data due today:

Australia's GDP, China's NBS Non-Mfg PMI and HSBC Services PMI, Swiss GDP, Germany's Markit Services PMI, Eurozone Markit Services Final PMI, UK Markit/CIPS Serv PMI, Eurozone Retail Sales, US ADP National Employment, Productivity Revised, Markit Comp Final PMI, ISM Non-Mfg PMI, Bank of Canada Rate Decision and statement, US Fed's Beige Book.
