By: San Francisco Women Artists The spacious new gallery is located at 647 Irving Street and 8th Avenue, and SFWA intends to have an impact in the hip Inner Sunset. The space is undergoing a complete transformation and will be open to the public in January. SFWA plans to execute a soft launch January 8th, 2015 to celebrate their gallery opening in its new location. “Because we are guided by the conviction that experiencing art enriches our lives, we are excited to be in a new and larger gallery as this will give us greater opportunities to more closely connect the community to our artists and to art,” says Pam Borrelli, Board President of SFWA. The new space will allow SFWA to increase its number of member artists as well as hosting a variety of special events, including an artist showcase, jazz nights, and performances by local musicians. Currently, SFWA hosts monthly-juried shows, featuring the paintings, photography, ceramics, sculpture, and jewelry created by member artists. In the New Year, SFWA will be partnering with noted artists to attract and involve even greater numbers of Bay Area artists and art lovers. ABOUT SFWA: Founded in 1887, San Francisco Women Artists is a nonprofit membership-based organization that fosters the talents of women artists in the Bay Area.
