Stirling Dynamics and SGB Enterprises Embark on Exciting New Collaboration at I/ITSEC 2014

Dec. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Stirling Dynamics, world leaders in active control technology and SGB Enterprises, leading experts in cockpit components and integrated trainers, will be joining forces at I/ITSEC 2014 - the world’s largest annual Simulation and Training event held in Orlando, Florida. This exciting collaboration will combine cutting edge technologies from both companies to culminate in the UH-60M Cockpit Avionics Procedural Tool with visual and flight control systems (CAPTE-VCS).

Stirling’s contribution to this simulator will be in the form of two active cyclic inceptors, two active collective inceptors, an ICM and customised GUI linking the sticks. The electronically linked inceptors will provide Users with tactile cueing features such as back drive, gates ramps and friction, through force feedback technology. These tactile cues are important to pilot training as they facilitate the realistic simulation of many different real-world flight control characteristics.

SGB will be providing its proven Cockpit Academics Procedural Tool- Enhanced (CAPTE) with the addition of the visual out the window (OTW) and flight controls (CAPTE-VCS). The CAPTE-VCS is a cost effective tactical emulation of the UH-60M helicopter cockpit.  The CAPT-E’s immersive cockpit is highly effective and accurate for start up, shutdown and both on-ground and in-air emergency procedures. The CAPTE-VCS is designed to support numerous page and pilot vehicle interface tasks during qualification, refresher and sustainment training.  The CAPT-EVCS utilizes single code based US government owned software that is scalable and customizable to meet UH-60M or CH-47F training requirements.

The overall collaboration will result in a highly realistic dual rotary helicopter cockpit enhanced by active control technology and a state-of-the-art high fidelity cockpit.  Over the course of the event, I/ITSEC attendees will be able to immerse themselves in this one-off simulator experience. The idea behind the collaboration stemmed from customers looking to expand the functionality of the current and proven CAPT-E device and to extend the training to include in air-tasks.  Adding seats, controls and the OTW was a natural progression for such an effective training tool.

“We saw an opportunity to do something special at this year’s I/ITSEC”, commented SGB’s President Joe Padula “SGB Enterprises and Stirling technologies simply align. We believe the resulting technology is primed for current industry needs.”

The CAPTE-VCS will be hosted at the SGB Enterprises I/ITSEC stand 2735
