TEMPE, Ariz. - Nov. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- "We are in for a unique holiday season!" exclaimed Joe, director of operations for Insight Marketing Solutions. "To be ready to serve our clients through November and December, we need to understand the trends. After looking at data and understanding what consumers prefer, we are prepared to offer very effective promotion strategies for our clients"

Insight Marketing Solutions Discovers Consumers Are Informed, Savvy, and Mobile this Holiday Season

Insight Marketing Solutions has prepared for the holidays with the new campaigns focused on this year's consumer preferences. "We are finding that potential customers want information, love their hand-held devices, and read reviews," explained Joe. "These trends will drive our campaigns."

Mobile technology is a big influencer right now. "More Americans own smartphones than landline phones," stated Joe. "When they search on those devices, 70% will make a purchase within an hour. Furthermore, coupons downloaded to mobile devices receive 10 times the redemptions of other types of discounts."

With this new trend, Joe emphasized that speed is crucial: "Slow moving pages and downloads will turn away potential customers. When we run promotions that are suitable for mobile technology, we must be sure that everyone can access their coupons in a timely manner."

Another development involves consumers wanting as much information as possible before making a purchase. "Along with mobile technology," said Joe, "is the capability to search anything on the Internet. Websites provide content that compares prices and items. People stuck on a decision can make one quickly with all that is available right now."

"For these consumers," Joe continued, "you want good content and to communicate in a way that establishes trust. Direct communication is still superior because it allows for interaction. Online, email still sells more than social media. People like that personal touch."

However, Joe cautions against completely dismissing social media, pointing out that 62% of marketers still intend to use social media to drive sales and brand awareness. The number of people joining Facebook, for example, keeps increasing, which offers larger target markets each year. It is a great idea to use it to generate attention so people visit websites and learn about products.

Finally, you cannot ignore reviews. "The savvy shopper is reading feedback about products and how a company serves customers. This information is just as important as facts about items – in fact, I'd argue it is more so," said Joe. "That bad service report on Yelp! or a mishandled return can turn people away. Now is a great time to make sure processes for handling potential problems are effective and clear to your retail workers."

Joe reminds everyone not to forget the big shopping holidays, "We have Black Friday on November 28, Small Business Saturday on November 29, and Cyber Monday on December 1. Those are the days to make a good impression and big sales!"
