Biobent Polymers Is Honored With VentureNEXT Startup Award

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Today, Biobent Polymers (http://www.biobent.com/), whose mission is to improve global sustainability by replacing the non-renewable, petroleum content in plastics with abundant agricultural co-products, announced it has received one of three  VentureNEXT Startup Awards from TechColumbus. The awards ceremony took place Nov. 6 at the LC Pavilion with a crowd of several hundred in attendance.

Spun out from Marysville-based Univenture Inc., Biobent is commercializing an R&D 100 award winning technology based on a unique chemical/mechanical process developed by Battelle.  This technology can convert petroleum-based plastic resins into bioplastics incorporating up to 40 percent sustainable feedstocks derived from soy or other plants. By replacing a significant amount of plastic with a renewable agricultural feedstock, Biobent is able to deliver bioplastic resins that are less expensive for virtually any plastics product manufacturer.
