Boston Based Comic News Site Launches Beta, Kickstarter (Contains Boston Celebrity Quotes)

Scrillow dba IMADETHENEWS, a website that creates a platform for anyone from cube dwellers to comedians to create comic news, launched its beta site and Kickstarter campaign on Monday. CEO John Hernandez commented, “This site allows you to relax and read some of the funniest comic content on the web, OR create the funny topical content based on current events. It really is up to you!”

The money raised in the Kickstarter campaign will be used to enhance the "look and feel" of the site. IMADETHENEWS will also add some high-tech features. Hernandez said, “We will add: an upvoting system to curate the best content, user profiles, a friendlier user interface and a mobile platform that will allow users to upload news stories on-the-go. The site will be a playground for folks to be creative, funny and vent about the absurd seriousness of the news.” After the first day on Kickstarter, IMADETHENEWS was already featured as a "Popular" campaign.

IMADETHENEWS believes that they will be a hub of comic entertainment because of the crowdsourcing platform they will provide. “It’s a simple idea. Many stories will be written, some stories will be absolute gems and they will be upvoted to the Front Page of our site. This will provide the reader with the BEST comic content.”

Hernandez’ idea was inspired by his penchant for comedy to relieve stress. John worked in corporate sales for 10 years and would escape by watching The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, reading The Onion and Barstool Sports.
