HOUSTON - Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- The TreeHouse Memorial City (http://www.studioredarchitects.com/rednews/studio-red-architects-designs-green-office-building-for-major-developer/) has been awarded the Engineering News Record (ENR) Magazine award for Best Green Project in the Texas and Louisiana region. This award is being presented for Studio RED Architect's outstanding sustainable design for the commercial office of Houston based privately-held real estate investment, development and management company, MetroNational.

Every year ENR presents regional and national awards in the architectural field for outstanding projects across the country. The criteria for the Best Projects include overcoming challenges, safety, innovation and contribution to the industry, construction quality & craftsmanship, and functionality of design, as well as aesthetic quality. There are 18 categories and around 40 winners over all. By receiving this award Studio RED's project is eligible for the national ENR award. Treehouse Memorial City is alsotracking LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

Treehouse Memorial City serves as a place of creativity and networking for employees, potential tenants, consultants and investors. Firm Principal, Micah Simecek and the Studio RED team used multiple sustainable design strategies. Some of these strategies included solar panels and energy efficient lighting, water efficiency features, and vegetated roof to mitigate the effects of "heat island" created by traditional roofs and site paving. Due to the solar panels and energy efficient lighting among other things, the buildings energy costs were reduced to nearly 50% of a typical baseline office building and the water efficiency features allowed for a reduction in irrigation requirements by nearly 70%."This project is a great example of a client's commitment to the environment through both their corporate culture and their actions; this award validates that," said Simecek, "The TreeHouse will set a standard for commercial development in our community."
