The Eternal Space: A Two-man Show About NYC's Penn Station Demolition Exceeds Goal In Kickstarter

Kickstarter Crowdfunding Campaign Raises $23,505 To Support Spring 2015 Production

NEW YORK - Nov. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- After a forty day campaign on Kickstarter, an online crowd funding platform, the producers of The Eternal Space are happy to announce that they successfully raised $23,505. Following the campaign that exceeded its original goal and received international support, an Off-Broadway showcase is planned in spring 2015. In the meantime, The Eternal Space production team will be busy fulfilling Kickstarter rewards for backers who pledged. Backer rewards included limited-edition prints from acclaimed photographer Norman McGrath, special tours of Penn Station in conjunction with Untapped Cities and handmade items from NYC area artists.

As the campaign deadline passed, playwright Justin Rivers, offered, "For everyone's support and belief in this play, my gratitude is endless. Each and every person who pledged helped to make this dream come true. Now, my job is deliver the best possible show I have in me to honor your generosity."

Dennis D. McCarthy, a producer for the show, says “I can speak for the entire production team, that we are eternally grateful to the over 200 donors who took the time to learn about and support The Eternal Space. The funds raised will propel us forward so that we may continue to finesse and produce the caliber of show that is worthy of everyone’s donation. Your donation will be rewarded with an intelligent and thoughtful production that will not disappoint!”

About the Show:On October 28th, 1963 Pennsylvania Station’s demolition begins. The wrecking crews work outside in the morning drizzle to dismantle a fifty-three-year-old architectural marvel.  Inside, a construction worker turned photographer is running away from his past while an aging English teacher can’t let his go. Their coincidental meeting begins a three-year debate over progress, preservation, and posterity, as one man fights to keep the station standing while the other is instrumental in taking it down.  This is the premise for The Eternal Space, a two-man play that charts an unlikely friendship through the social and cultural upheavals of the mid-1960s.
