Follow on Google News | The Naples Players to Hold Auditions for "Red"By: The Naples Players Two men are needed for the performance, (1) in his fifties and (1) in his twenties. Barry Cavin (http://www.barrycavin.com/) Winner of the 2010 Tony award for Best Play, Red explores the compelling and vulnerable relationship between an artist and his creations as he fights for relevance in the art community. Famed abstract expressionist, Mark Rothko has just received the biggest commission in the history of modern art; a series of murals to be hung in the newly built Four Seasons restaurant. Working feverishly with his new eager assistant, Ken, Rothko challenges his young apprentice’s artistic point of view every step of the way. But it is when Ken challenges the virtuoso that makes him contemplate his own artistic significance. These are two dynamic roles for actors that are looking to challenge themselves while having the opportunity to play extraordinary and complex characters. Rehearsals begin December 15 (rehearsal schedule will be adjusted for the holidays). Show dates are February 4 through February 28. Scripts are available at the box office for 72 hours perusal with a $20 deposit. Call 239-263-7990 to confirm availability. The Naples Players’ auditions are open to all interested persons, regardless of age, race or experience. All that is required is the desire to be involved in a production and the willingness to commit time and effort to the project.
