 Announce the Teacher of the Week - Week Eight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- American Paper & Twine Co., Titans Radio and Georgia-Pacific Communication Papers announced Coach Brian Kyle, from McMinn County High School in Athens, Tennessee, was selected as Teacher of the Week, for week eight of the Tennessee Titans 2014 football season.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to honor another deserving teacher as our Teacher of the Week,” said Karen Shaffer, Vice President of American Paper and Twine Co. “It is obvious Coach Kyle creates an encouraging and effective learning environment for his students. We congratulate him on being this week’s recipient.”

Coach Kyle was nominated by one of his students, Hailey McCollister. “Coach Kyle is my Honors U.S. History teacher this year,” said Ms. McCollister, McMinn County High School student.  “We also work together on Saturday nights at the local racetrack, where he’s the announcer and I help to score the races and operate the scoreboard.”

Hailey continued, “Coach Kyle is far more than a GREAT teacher. We definitely learn our U.S. History while in his classroom, and the data proves it. However, that's not what makes him a GREAT teacher. He leaves no doubt in my mind that he really cares about me as a person, and that motivates me to give 100% each and every day in his classroom. The learning environment within his classroom is by far the best I've ever seen. The expectations are high, but the atmosphere is so uplifting and positive. It's just a wonderful place to be, where everyone is upbeat, respectful, and hard working. It's how school should be. Fun and exciting, yet an atmosphere where learning definitely occurs every class period of everyday.”

Each week during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a $400 gift basket full of supplies for their classroom and two tickets to see a Tennessee Titans home game. A new winner is announced every Tennessee Titans game and at the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a gift basket of school supplies (worth approx. $800) and tickets to the December 28th game vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
