DALLAS - Oct. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- As the Fall and Winter travel seasons approach, many families will take to the road on their 2014 family vacation. Travel enthusiast John Giduck is lending a hand to parents by providing them with a handful of great travel tips designed to make long car rides with young kids a stress-free experience.

One of the best ways to keep kids quiet in the back seat is to distract them with their favorite movies and TV shows. John Giduck recommends parents bring an older laptop or tablet that has been kid-proofed, and load it up with the kid's favorite movies. Maybe even spend some time the night before the vacation picking out new movies with the kids that the parents can purchase and download onto the device. A car charger and a pair of headphones are also must-have items in order to keep the device powered and the entertainment quiet.

John Giduck knows that not every family has access to a spare tablet or laptop. In this case, he recommends that parents take their kids to a dollar store or department store to pick out some treats they will only have access to during the car trip. Coloring books, non-messy snacks, and small toys are a great way to keep kids entertained in the back seat. Snacks like cookies, trail mix, and sealable drinks, like Gatorade, make great backseat snacks. By packing their own snacks, families are avoiding the temptation to overpay for snacks at gas stations, allowing them to spend more money on other aspects of their trip.

When parents are packing for the trip, John Giduck recommends that parents sort out each kid's clothes by the day they will wear them. Organizing each kid's clothes by day will ensure that parents will not forget anything like an extra pair of socks or a shirt or two. Once the clothes are sorted, put each day's clothes into an individual Ziploc bag. This way, at the end of the day, the empty Ziploc bag can be used as storage for laundry. This will greatly cut back on the time it takes parents to load and unload luggage, as only a few Ziploc bags will be needed to be carried into hotels for on-the-road nights.
