ST. LOUIS - Oct. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- St. Louis, Missouri… Quake Kare, the St. Louis-based provider of survival kits and emergency supplies for individuals, families and companies, is showcased in a feature article in the October 2014 edition of Packaging Digest, a respected national magazine and timely “voice” of the packaging industry since 1963.

Packaging Digest Editor Lisa McTigue Pierce’s article focuses on Quake Kare packaging operations as the nation’s leading provider of emergency kits to help people survive virtually any disaster including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, school lockdowns and potential outbreaks of pandemic flu.

Quake Kare is owned by the not-for-profit Lighthouse for the Blind-Saint Louis (LHB), which acquired the Quake Kare company in February 2014 in a strategic move to broaden product assembly, packaging and sales operations with new products for consumers in addition to products for LHB’s traditional base of government and military customers.

The article notes that Quake Kare “transformed its packaging into a more dynamic kitting operation, with new elements of customization and direct-to-consumer shipping… Since 1933, LHB has manufactured, assembled, warehoused and sold a variety of medical and chemical products to customers as varied as schools, hospitals, the military and government agencies.”

Brian Houser, LHB director of sales and marketing, describes in the article how LHB’s business has changed dramatically since the Quake Kare acquisition. “We went from a medical and kitting packager that did business exclusively with the government and commercial companies to a company that now markets and sells directly to the consumer, as well as Amazon.com,” he says.

The strategic move has substantially boosted LHB and Quake Kare’s sales particularly since August 2014 with consumer concerns about the upcoming flu season. In recent weeks, sales of Quake Kare’s Pandemic Flu Accessory kit have nearly tripled. Quake Kare offers choices of more than 100 survival kits. All LHB and Quake Kare sales revenue directly supports Lighthouse programs for people who are blind or visually impaired.  See the website http://www.quakekare.com.

Founded in 1933, LHB is a non-profit 501(c)3 enterprise that helps children and adults who are visually impaired maintain dignity and independence by offering employment, education and support services. LHB employees assemble, warehouse and sell high-quality products including first aid kits, medical kits, catheters, aerosol and liquid paints, aerosol and liquid cleaning products, eco-friendly products and many others, including Quake Kare products.
