Walmart Stores King of Craigslist for 40+ Seeking Missed Connections

Kmart, Target, Other National Chains Included in Spot Check of Over Communicators Searching for Dates. Tales of Flipped Ditched & Anxious says random meet-ups ranked low for finding social inventory and don't confuse greeter's smile as date bait.

CHICAGO - Oct. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Walmart stores and their parking lots appear to be the leading locations for people aged 40 and older using craigslist.org (CL) Missed Connections personals in their quest to link-up with potential dates of interest.

Two spot checks in selected major markets found ooglers 40-plus turned to CL and its popular Missed Connections category in pursuit of romances with Walmart customers or employees more than those of any other national retailer.

Tales of the Flipped Ditched & Anxious, which chronicles the realities of those dating again after a divorce or becoming widowed, says while Walmart stores and parking lots were most often mentioned, Kmart, Target and Costco locations also were high on the list of national retailers featuring social inventory of interest.

“Finding dates by walking around can be a movable feast for the eyes and heart, but it is amazing how many folks, whether over 40 or not, turn to the Internet to publicly over-communicate their desires,” said Rand Deminc, author of Tales of the Flipped Ditched & Anxious, a survival guide for the separated, divorced and widowed dating again . . . or thinking about it.

Deminc describes CL Missed Connections as a glaring example of “impersonals gone haywire.”

Meeting people randomly -- merely “walking around” -- ranked ninth of the ten methods as sources of the MOST dates. Observing people randomly and then taking to online sites to track them down didn’t even make the list.

CL Missed Connections is filled with shout outs from men and women who believe a casual glance, distant eye contact or courteous hello is prelude to a marriage proposal. While men tend to be the more active and provocative of the CL Missed Connection communicators, both sexes dating again after divorce or becoming widowed or maybe still married are aggressive in their search for:

* Rekindling of relationships from years ago;

* The person they recently noticed in the hardware department;

* An affair, with someone regardless if single or married; or

* Their next scam victim.

Moreover, the posters:

* Take themselves seriously;

* Think someone else is interested in them;

* Believe CL is an efficient method for reaching out; and

* Expect someone to remember the details of a chance meeting be it yesterday or during the days of the Nixon administration.

Unfortunately, these delusions and illusions turn hurtful when the CL author carelessly includes details potentially embarrassing and even harmful to the person they are seeking.

“This doesn’t mean a marriage hasn’t occurred from a random meet-up at a store, service station or the like, according to the research and stories in Tales of the Flipped Ditched & Anxious, but ‘Other, Unspecified’ was the only category receiving fewer votes as the BEST method for finding quality dates,” said Deminc.

“We are now blessed with more than just free speech, but also free media where CL Missed Connections is the new soapbox and outlandish postings go unedited,” Deminc added.

“Even the most accomplished writers and speakers benefit from sound judgment and good editors. CL Missed Connections posts range from senseless to comedic. Readers are left to separate the inane from the genuine contributions.

“If moved by the warm smile from the person at Walmart, please take extra special care before making a move,” said Deminc. “While there aren’t any signs forbidding the urge, please don’t squeeze the greeter.  He or she is just doing their job.”
