CARLISLE, Pa. - Oct. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Two men and a dream; that is how the event now known as Fall Carlisle began in 1974.  Since then, events have come and gone, but Fall Carlisle has been a constant and will forever be known as the event that started it all.  With the 2014 event in the rearview mirror and the 40th Anniversary season nearly completed, close to 90,000 guests from around the world converged on the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds to buy, sell and trade all things automotive.

The five-day event included the standard swap meet and car corral frenzy as well as a 2-day auction at the Expo center presented by Carlisle Auctions.  In addition, a film crew was onsite to tape episodes for The Appraisers, a new car-themed program airing on Discovery’s Velocity Channel in 2015.  Finally, as part of the 40th Anniversary fun, a car display was organized in and around Building G spotlighting cars ranging 1974-2014, the current years of operation for Carlisle Events.

Within the swap meet and car corral, thousands of vendors moved great automotive-themed items.  Pieces and parts deemed original, new old stock, aftermarket and more were available as were collectibles and memorabilia best suited for a garage, man cave or shop.  Classic cars were the rage too with a few thousand lacing the east end of the grounds between fence lines.  As was the case with the swap and vending areas, multiple transactions kept the onsite notary office very busy throughout the weekend.

Finally, what would Fall Carlisle be without its popular car auction?  As previously mentioned, Carlisle Auctions supported this aspect of the weekend and did so with amazing results.  320+ cars crossed the block with 65% of them actually being sold.  Cars were priced to move too as rides sold from the low four figures to six figure range.  Of those sales, a 2001 BMW Z8 was the top seller, going for $144,450 (including fees), while a Corvette once owned by Carlisle Events co-owner Chip Miller sold for $77,040 (including fees).

With Fall Carlisle in the bag along with its auction, Carlisle Events turns its attention to Zephyrhills, Florida and Festival Park for Fall AutoFest.  This event, much like Spring and Fall Carlisle, is a home for all things automotive and is where thousands of guests come to buy, sell and trade.  Fall AutoFest runs November 13-16, with the auction taking place November 14-15.  For information on the auction or to secure a vending space, call 717-243-7855 or visit www.CarlisleEvents.com.
