American Paper & Twine Co. Announces The Teacher of the Week for Week six

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Oct. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- American Paper & Twine Co., Titans Radio and Georgia-Pacific Communication Papers announced Laura Hammonds from Carter’s Valley Elementary School in Church Hill, Tennessee, was selected as Teacher of the Week, for week six of the Tennessee Titans 2014 
football season.

“We are very happy to be able to present Mrs. Hammonds with this award,” said Lonnie Spivak, eCommerce and Marketing Manager for American Paper & Twine Co. “She received more than forty entries from co-workers, students, family and friends. With so many entries it was hard to ignore how the Carter’s Valley Elementary community feels about Laura, and we appreciate the opportunity to be able recognize her for her hard work.”

“She is an amazing woman inside and outside the school,” said Alisha Saxton, a Carter’s Valley Elementary parent. “She is very compassionate to every person she meets and treats the students as her own children. They are not just a test grade or a number to her. She puts so much effort into making them better individuals by the time they leave her class. She is truly loved by each student that knows her.”

“Mrs. Hammonds is a first class teacher and makes sure to show each of her students how important they are,” said Amanda Hinkernell, another Carter’s Valley Elementary parent. “I volunteer in her classroom and am amazed at her interaction with the children. She goes the extra mile to magnify each student's strengths and to build up their weaknesses through challenges and center groups. Her patience, even with the higher energy children in her class is exemplary.”

Acacia Jones, former student and current Carter’s Valley Elementary parent said, “Laura is a great teacher! She has been an inspiration to me not only when I had her for a coach in softball, but also now as she teaches my son. My son loves having her as his teacher.” Acacia continued, “She does a great job with the kids she teaches. She wants her kids to do well. She deserves to be teacher of the week! “

Each week during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a $400 gift basket full of supplies for their classroom and two tickets to see a Tennessee Titans home game. A new winner is announced every Tennessee Titans game and at the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a gift basket of school supplies (worth approx. $800) and tickets to the December 28th game vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
