| Orlando Shakespeare Theater Partners With Christian Service Center To Feed The HungryCast of Les Misérables steps off the stage and into the community
Les Misérables, coinciding with September’s Hunger Action Month, contains themes of poverty, hunger, and grief. Orlando Shakes actors stepped off the stage to give back to the community and spread the word about hunger. In addition to their service at Daily Bread, the Theater partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, collecting non-perishable food items in the lobby prior to each performance this month. The Daily Bread program was established at the Christian Service Center with a goal that no person in Central Florida would struggle with hunger. Since 1975, Daily Bread has offered a free, nourishing noontime meal to anyone in the community who is hungry. Today, Daily Bread continues to serve an average of 550 meals per day, six days a week, from two Central Florida locations: Downtown Orlando and West Orange County. In 2014, the Daily Bread served its four millionth meal to the Central Florida community. For more information visit www.christianservicecenter.org. Les Misérables continues through October 12 in the Margeson Theater and is sold out. Standby tickets are available for purchase in person, 90 minutes prior to each performance. For more information visit www.orlandoshakes.org or call the Box Office at (407) 447-1700 ext. 1. Les Misérables is presented through the support of the Bryce L. West Foundation.
