By: CLK Properties In the beggining Craig Koenigsberg's father, Maynard, discovered a specialty in private land, owning many loft structures in different New York City precincts. He sold the properties in the 1970s. In 1980, Maynard and Craig Koenigsberg collaborated to open CLK Properties because they saw a need for affordable housing and commercial property. To purchase their first building, 750 Riverside Drive in Manhattan, the men required $25,000. The youthful Koenigsberg sold his seeker green Datsun 240z and utilized his bah mitzva cash to help purchase the 42 units. This first purchase would help Maynard and Craig Koenigsberg build equity and allow them to continue to purchase and manage more properties. Maynard Koenigsberg passed on in 2001. CLK Properties now claims 20,000 lofts in 18 states on the South, East and Gulf coasts.
