The new Datapolis Process System Managing Processes in Dynamic SharePoint Environment

A new release introduces substitution features and task application to ease process management in SharePoint 2013.

WARSAW, Poland - Sept. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Datapolis has released the upgraded edition of its core product Datapolis Process System, a platform for modeling and managing processes with SharePoint workflows.

The 4.1 release includes a substitutions module and improved timer jobs, and is accompanied with a free Datapolis Tasks Application. The trial version and the application are available for download from Datapolis website.

Paweł Bujak, Datapolis President: “The new release of Datapolis Process System makes another step forward in modeling agile business processes in a flexible environment of today’s businesses. By introducing substitution tools we made SharePoint workflows more adaptable to external conditions. When holidays or sudden absences keep regular process participants out of the loop, our substitution mechanism ensures business processes in your enterprise are not interrupted. We also decided to showcase vast capabilities of our applications model by offering Datapolis Tasks Application free of charge to everyone using our solution.”

The new release of Datapolis Process System adds substitution functionality to SharePoint’s Central Administration. Process managers can set up individuals or groups that may substitute for other persons in a workflow, defining where (in which workflows, sites, lists, etc.) and when substitutions would be active. When a user acts as a substitute for another process participant, he or she can launch the prescribed actions on their behalf.

Central Administration also allows setting up Datapolis Timer Jobs, defining how many jobs can run simultaneously and designating jobs to run on one or more servers at a scheduled time. An administrator can set up parameters relevant to given jobs, for example define the time after which a workflow history is removed. In addition, the 4.1 release improves user experience of Datapolis Solutions and Applications, making them easier to develop and use.

The new version is accompanied by Datapolis Tasks Application (http://www.datapolis.com/products/sharepoint-workflow-dat...), delivered for free to all Datapolis Process System users. The application supports To Do and Collect Data types of tasks, going beyond the capabilities of an ordinary SharePoint task list. Besides assigning single tasks it allows setting up sequential tasks, assigned to a user automatically one after another, parallel tasks assigned simultaneously, and repetitive tasks, assigning new instances of the same task when the previous one is completed. The application can send reminders about due date and report if a task is not finished in time.

For convenience, Datapolis prepared an online test site (http://www.datapolis.com/products/sharepoint-workflow-dat...), a hosted SharePoint environment allowing registrants to test and deploy Datapolis Process System workflows free of charge. With up to five user accounts and no time limit, anyone interested in Datapolis Process System can assess its capabilities. A fully functional 30-day trial version is also available.
