Scottsdale Radiation Oncologist Appointed to Editor-in Chief of Cancer Journal

Sept. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- 21^st Century Oncology is pleased to announce that Steven Finkelstein, M.D., Scottsdale Board Certified Radiation Oncologist and the company’s Chief Science Officer, has been appointed to be the editor-in-chief of the Journal, Contemporary Radiation Oncology. The journal is a publication of OncLive, a comprehensive online resource that provides oncology professionals with the resources and information they need to provide the best patient care. Contemporary Radiation Oncology will provide information on various radiation topics, including treatment advances and important regulatory decisions.

“Contemporary Radiation Oncology will provide the latest radiation oncology advances for radiation therapy providers across the nation,” Finkelstein said. “This journal will provide a platform to share academic information and research in order to form a collective response in the fight against cancer. I’m honored to serve as the editor-in-chief.”

Dr. Finkelstein earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School. He was chief resident in Radiation Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. He also completed fellowship training in surgical oncology, as well as clinical immunotherapy, with the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.

Dr. Finkelstein’s accolades include serving as the National Director of the Translational Research Consortium, the research arm of 21^st Century Oncology, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Translational Genomic Research Institute (TGen), Director of Animal Radiation Imaging Immunotherapy Research Laboratory (ARIEL), Vice Chair of Translational Research for Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) Radiation committee, and 21^st Century Oncology’s National Principal Investigator for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG/NRG).
