NextCo, Inc. to donate all 2014 proceeds from its TickerTalk app to help ALS research

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- NextCo, Inc. has been a longtime supporter of ALS research. NextCo became aware of ALS in the mid ‘90s when they had their lives affected by it. One of the founder’s mother, Judy Hoffman, had ALS for several years then died in 1996.

ALS was a relatively unknown disease, struggling to receive funding and awareness to help find a cure. One of the ways that NextCo supports ALS research is by purchasing ads in the annual Phillies Phestival fundraising ad book. This year we promoted our Apple iOS app TickerTalk, as well as celebrating the life of Judy Hoffman. This was a couple of months before becoming aware of Pete’s Challenge, also known as the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

With his amazing spirit, family and friends, Pete Frates has brought tremendous awareness and funding for ALS by sharing his story and challenge. NextCo has taken the Ice bucket Challenge, which included getting doused with buckets of ice water and sending a check to ALS. In addition, we are going to donate 100% of 2014 TickerTalk app proceeds for ALS research.

It  happens that the TickerTalk app can be another way to help raise ALS awareness. TickerTalk allows users to display messages to anyone in their line of sight. Messages can scroll across the screen like a news ticker or be displayed as static messages. One option allows users to dissolve one static message into another, while another option turns scrolling text into static text.

With TickerTalk, users can create, save, then display an unlimited amount of messages. They can change the scroll speed, font, size, color, and message direction with easy-to-use controls. The playback can also be flipped so messages can be read in a mirror and users can scroll left-to-right or right-to-left to accommodate their language.

TickerTalk communication doesn’t require knowing another person’s phone number or social ID, it doesn’t consume minutes, or need an internet connection. Users just hold up their devices and show their messages.

TickerTalk is great for teaching younger children to type and read messages. (Your child may not be able to text, but they can TickerTalk!) TickerTalk can be used to communicate in a noisy restaurant, or cheer your team at a sporting event. It can be used when silence needs to be maintained - at the Library, School, or Religious institutions. TickerTalk was even used at the 2013 Summer Olympics!
