Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Late August was the time of year again when leading critic the infamous Robert Parker JR was out in force looking at recent vintages with a view of changing any current scores if deemed necessary

Re-scoring can have an immediate effect on the market prices of key vintages with any slight movement in score sending prices higher setting them up to be the must have vintage of the future.

Last week was no exception with the renowned Bordeaux Chateau Montrose receiving a well-received boost. The 2010 Montrose Vintage was already sitting at a very respectable 99 point score with the 2009 and 1990 vintages already priding themselves on having received the accolade of 100point score. The 2010 Montrose price was indeed reflective of it being a more recent vintage with a slightly less than perfect rating.

Once Robert Parker JR finished his tasting and upgraded the 2010 to 100 the market was quick to react with Liv-ex seeing the price jump and one UK merchant selling 45 cases in 45 minutes.

The upgrade from 99 to 100 may seem trivial but to receive an unbeatable 100 point score sets the vintage up perfectly to mirror prices seen by the 2009 and in time the 1990, which currently trades at approximately $9,000 per case.

Cult Wines Director Paul Hill explains further “Entering into any investment market for the first time can be a little daunting without expert help. Here at Cult Wines we like to draw on many years of fine wine and investment experience to ensure a successful portfolio and we believe that at these prices and this newly upgraded score the Chateau Montrose 2010 provides an excellent and stable investment for new entrants. Montrose produces blue chip wines with consistent industry accolades and excellent prospects for capital growth with minimal downside risk and should be a must for any fine wine portfolio”
