HARRISBURG, Pa. - Sept. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Cyber threats against consumers, companies and the government occur on a regular basis, threatening the economy, finances, identity, and privacy. If you're wondering how to keep your personal data or your company safe from cyber-attack, you can benefit from a free series of presentations on cyber security topics scheduled for September 19th at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. Hosted by Chuck Davis of the HU faculty, these three presentations and workshops will give you the knowledge to protect yourself and your company.

Mr. Davis teaches Ethical Hacking and Computer Forensics classes for Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. He is a Senior Security Architect at a Fortune 500 Company and previously worked as a Security Operations Manager for IBM. Mr. Davis holds the CISSP and ISSAP certifications from (ISC)2. He co-authored two books on the subject of security, holds three patents and has four published invention disclosures. He has been a speaker at numerous security conferences and was a featured guest speaker a Hacker Halted Conference in Mexico City.

11 a.m. How Hackers Crack Passwords & How Do You Protect Yourself?

Each 30-minute presentation will include a 15-minute Q & A.

The free presentation are part of the University's contribution to National Cyber Security Awareness Month, which is designed to engage and educate public and private sector partners through events and initiatives with the goal of raising awareness about cyber security and increasing the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber-incident. October 2014 marks the 11th Annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month, which is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center.
