Using The Internet To Teach Multi Classes With One Teacher

How The Evolution Of The Internet Changed Classroom Teaching From One Teacher Teaching One Class To One Teacher Teaching All The Students In One Grade

SYDNEY - Aug. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- The evolution of the internet over the last decade has started to affect us all in the modern world. And how it will fan out into the future is yet to be seen. But change is taking place and it is not always in ways we see. Education and the school system is doing nearly everything it can to try and not change. How can you change when the people on the school boards are not exactly spring chickens. They have been through a schooling system and they don't know any other system.

Also when government money is involved, as in student loans and free education, people do not want to buck the system. But as bankrupt governments try to save money, they might start looking at the school system and try to downsize it to a cheaper version of what we have already. Or completely scrap it to make way for the new. Highly improbably as too many voters don't like change. The problem with democracy is, to survive you have to give, but now to survive you have to start taking away. Will democracy survive the internet? How much can you take away before you get voted out.

Now schools and teachers have been delegated to babysitter. But do you need a whole system in place, that involves buildings and an army of teachers when you have the internet. Will schools survive the disruptive technology of the internet? The new system is already in place, it just has to grow. Now you can put your preschool children in a home to be looked after by a parent. Four kids for one adult. How long before that system moves into primary school? The onto secondary school and university. Universities are in a very problematic situation at the moment. They are hanging on by the skin of their teeth to a 150 year old system. That will not survive the disruptive technology of the future in its present form. But will they be able to change fast enough to survive the future, or will they join the dinosaurs on the road to extinction. The meteor disrupted the dinosaurs. Will the internet disrupt the universities.

I think one the greatest changes in the future to affect our children, could be in education. Khan Academy is seeing to that. One man without a mission changed education just trying to help his relatives with math. Now it has spawned a new education paradigm. Education is open to change, resistance is futile. What about the “Hole in the Wall Project” where an internet computer was set up in a slum in India. What happened? The kids in the slums started learning English just off the internet with no teachers. They taught themselves and helped each other. They value education so much they started learning by themselves. The computer is a tool of education not a tool of entertainment.

It is already happened with MOOCs for the life long learner. Last year they did not exist and now in my view they dominate the education scene on the internet. A few years ago it was MOGs. I used to say I was a gamer now I say I am a MOOCer. Are students in school doing MOOCs for homework? How rapidly the internet changes the future. Now you can watch a lecture on youtube or any other video site, from many of the world's respected universities, and keep up to date in your chosen field. What about itunes university? Are they the new open university with everything online. The internet is information. You can find out about anything you want on the internet, and you can become a teacher and teach what you know. So do we need teachers? Really once your children know how to search the internet, then they are on their own. No more parrot feeding in the classroom. Now MOOCs allow you to take a course and get a certificate, FREE in any field you like.

Where MOOCs and the future of education are heading nobody knows, but it is exciting. But the school system is not excited. What will happen to them? What will happen to their funding? What will happen to their jobs? Also the time for change is now. After the financial crisis of 2007/2008, of which the world is still reeling from, the middle class in the western world is dead. And the schooling system of the past prepared the future workers for the middle class. Primary school prepared the children for secondary school. Secondary school prepared students for university. University prepared young adults for the middle class.

Now in the era of the post financial crisis of 2007/2008 where are the middle class jobs. Unless you go overseas to China or another country that will dominant the future, like Russia or even Central America. The Western World of Europe, the Americas and the South Pacific is dying in debt and resistance to change. So want do you do. Go online. Go virtual. Head into cyberspace.

I was teaching in China in a primary school/kindergarten and they embraced the internet. The classes grew with the internet and this is an account of what happened. It is just the evolution of the internet and how this school fitted in and used the new technology. We had kindergarten kids crowded round computer screens signing English songs and repeating the lessons. That is the future.

This is an account of what happened and how easy it is to set up a school on the internet. It just evolved over time as different situations arose and, I think, the school principle just wanted to see what this internet thing was all about. It doesn't take much, the internet has everything you need you just need to put it all together. And the best part is it is free or most of it can be free.
