It’s really quite magical. The spirit of a town that refuses to lay down and die is just one reason to study up on your history. Salida, Colorado has gone through many transformations. It started as a mining and ranching community in the late 1800’s. The actual town would not be founded until the 1880’s. It was also at this time that the construction of the railroad began.

The railroad was a defining feature and it bought visitors, entrepreneurs and workers into Salida. It really helped the town flourish and grow. Then in the blink of an eye the railroad would be shut down. It happened in the 1970’s and devastated the once proud town. It would take over 20 years and some fresh blood to bring the Salida back to life. Find out more about Salida, Colorado and all it has to offer here:
