LA Weekly name the Wildlife Learning Center the best alternative zoo/sanctuary in Los Angeles. WLC is a wildlife sanctuary and public education that is located in Sylmar, CA. The Wildlife Foundation provides financial support for the ongoing care of the dozens of rescued animals that are given a home for life at the WLC. The sanctuary includes over fifty different species. They are a non- profit organization that provides outreach and onsite education in wildlife biology. Their outreach program is the largest in Los Angeles with classes taught by their friendly and enthusiastic biologists. The Learning Center is also open to the public and visitors can have; one-on-one encounters, behind the scenes tours, zoology courses, as well as birthday parties and special events booking.
