LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - June 26, 2014 - PRLog -- LONG ISLAND, NY - A group of Long Island volunteers are giving back in a big way two weeks from now through Wiithon, a video game marathon for the benefit of Child's Play Charity.

The four-person team will commence a live playthrough of multiple games on Wii and Wii U, Nintendo's popular home consoles. The undertaking, broadcasted online at wiithon.com, is expected to take over forty hours of continuous play.

The nonstop, three day fundraiser is the fourth such event hosted by the group, who have raised over $1200 in prior efforts. Marathons like Wiithon help raise millions of dollars each year for Child's Play, an organization that provides toys and games to children treated at over seventy hospitals worldwide.

Anthony Saya, the group's co-founder, has learned the importance of these efforts firsthand. "Boredom is the worst thing to have in a hospital," says Anthony, who recently recovered from a difficult weeklong stay. "Every minute you're unoccupied is a minute you're festering on your illness. Child's Play helps make that pain disappear for thousands of bedridden kids. We applaud their efforts, and we love being able to help the cause through our hobby."

Donors and onlookers alike are encouraged to follow the event, which kicks off July 11th at 5:00 PM EDT [GMT -4] on www.wiithon.com.
