Comprehensive Look at Brownfields Tax Credits Offered at Cherrytree Group's Second Annual Conference
The event featured a panel of guest speakers, including Kerry Bowie (Director of Brownfields and Environmental Justice, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection), Daniel Seferian, Esq. (Counsel, Rulings and Regulation Bureau, Massachusetts Department of Revenue), and Richard Cote, P.E., LSP (Principal and Manager of Engineering, Comprehensive Environmental Inc.).
After a networking breakfast, Bowie offered an explanation of what constitutes a Brownfields site, the history of the Brownfields Program, and what assistance is available for Brownfields redevelopment. Seferian then continued with more detail regarding legal aspects of the Brownfields program (specifically with regard to the Massachusetts Brownfields Tax Credit), and explained how the DOR interprets Brownfields in Massachusetts. Cote drew on his experience as an LSP and used case studies from his work on Brownfields sites to put the program into perspective.
