ViSTA Networking Solutions Announces Support of RDX Drives for Network Video Recorders

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - June 19, 2014 - PRLog -- ViSTA Networking Solutions (VNS) announces support for removable hard drives (RDX) for the desktop versions of their modular Network Video Recorders (NVRs). These NVRs are offered in 3 platforms and are scalable in video processing, archive capacity, video output, OS support and footprint. “This expansion of our Desktop NVRs allows customers the opportunity to save their data to a removable hard drive and essentially store their video for years” said Graham Joys, President of VNS. “The use of removable media for long term storage simplifies system architecture and reduces power consumption as fewer spinning disks are needed and removable drives sit on a shelf”.

RDX removable hard drives can be used similarly to tape cartridges. Drives can be rotated through a long term back plan allowing reuse after the retention period has been exceeded as is done with tape back up systems. Or, users can elect to retain video permanently by using new drives at each backup point. This long term method for storing critical video information can be managed manually, through traditional backup/archival software or through Video Management Systems which support this feature.

The new desktop NVRs are equipped with one SATA RDX drive dock and come with a 1.5TB drive pre-installed. For applications requiring more than one dock, a VNS custom NVR can be used.
