It's Not About The Coach - book launch

Coaching is a space between two or more people, coach and coachee. Typically coming together to discuss performance and how it might develop. However, to date just about all of our research and literature has focused on the coach.

FULHAM, England - June 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Why aren't there any resources for the other half of the coaching relationship? Everyone else thinks it is about the coach; training, qualifications and accreditation etc are readily available. Yet we often neglect the hero of the story - the coachee.

In 2009 I set out on a journey of research, after 85 interviews I had filled this much needed gap to provide the required support (and challenge) for coachees who are considering coaching as means of self development. It’s Not About The Coach inspires coachees to…

make informed choices about coaching

discover readiness for coaching

develop the values required by coachees

My research recognizes that knowledge of the coaching process can only get you so far; choices, readiness and values will allow individuals to accelerate the coaching relationships.

As one of the first recognized texts to hit the bookshelves I focus on the coachee so that he/she can get the most from coaching in business, life and sport. Enabling readers to connect with the book I designed it on two levels.

First, it provides a narrative of what it is like to be a coachee - peppered with personal examples as my observations as coachee unfold. Second, I describe theories, tools and techniques that individuals can apply to improve their performance.

My research and writings describe a journey that any coachee might undertake. Highlighted in three parts – possibilities, perception and performance. Do you need to…

Consider your possibilities and be aware? Locating authenticity, embracing change and recognizing emotions.

Challenge your perception and adapt? Developing curiosity, welcoming challenge and inviting questions.

Change your performance and action? Setting goals, nurturing systems and harnessing energy.
