A3 Freight Payment comments on the Trans Vantage criminal case

The experts at A3 Freight Payment comment on the criminal case against the former owner of freight paymetn compnay Trans Vantage

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- MEMPHIS, TN - On Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey unsealed a criminal complaint against the former owner of the now defunct freight audit and payment firm, Trans Vantage.

Commenting on the situation, Ross Harris, CEO at A3 Freight Payment discussed the dismal picture of corruption painted by the complaint. “The complaint alleges actions by the owner of Trans Vantage which, if true, represent the highest betrayal of trust by a provider to its customers” said Harris.

He went on to explain that the case is “a strong example to shippers of the importance in performing both initial and ongoing due diligence upon their providers.”

The immediate assumption by most shippers is that the largest damage from such scandals is financial. Harris contends it is not:

“The far greater damage is done in the form of long-term operational impairment at the shipper. The shippers victimized by these failures must contend with immediate and ongoing operational challenges even if they didn’t use the provider to make payments.”

He explains that shippers in these situations must now deal with

• An unplanned, hasty, and disruptive transition to a new freight payment provider

• Bad or inconsistent transportation data

Degraded carrier relationships from slow or no payments

Lost executive support for future initiatives due to this failure

Finally, Harris noted that “Shippers can avoid ALL of the financial and operational damage of these incidents with a few simple initial and ongoing due diligence steps.” These steps and the complete statement can be found on the company’s blog:
