La Fenice: World's first Induction coffee machine

Let us introduce our kickstarter project “La Fenice” , the first electromagnetic induction coffee maker that prepares the perfect espresso and the perfect American filter coffee, with an 80% energy saving.

As is well known, coffee machines are one of the most popular appliances in the world, needing constant energy to maintain the water at brewing temperature. Initially we concentrated on the energy saving aspect, engineering a new heater system that uses less energy and only when we need it. To make this possible we studied  electromagnetic induction, the technology that revolutionize the hobs industry, improving the energy efficiency up to 95%. This technology allows our coffee machine to remain always off, switching on only when we need it, heating up the water instantly, resulting in an 80% energy saving.

To perfectly control this technology, we developed an electronic board that manages all the typical functions of a traditional coffee machine. In addition, it also controls pressure, flow rate and temperature with extreme precision.

Thanks to this, for the first time, a single coffee machine can produce the two most popular kinds of coffee in the world: American filter coffee and Espresso. To be precise, perfect American filter coffee and perfect Espresso with your favorite ground coffee but also with the most common capsules on the market like K-Cup® and FAP.

For an Espresso, the machine develops a pressure of 11 bar, with a pre-infusion time of 1 second and a reduces flow rate. For American filter, the machine reduces pressure to 1 bar and maximizes flow. In both processes temperature is constantly maintained at 93°C thanks to a sensor monitoring it with the precision of one degree. La Fenice, unlike most other coffee machine; measuring temperature at the surface of the boiler, directly measures the temperature of the water itself, resulting in a higher precision ad a more consistent coffee quality.Last but not least, the design! We took inspiration from the past to reinvent the future, redesigning the old Italian coffee machines, newly dressed in aluminum, glass and wood.
