Finding St. Anthony: A Story of Loss & Light

The public is invited to join the Atonement Friars & Sisters at a special screening and meet the filmmaker event

GARRISON, N.Y. - June 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Graymoor Spiritual Life Center, a ministry of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, invites the community to a screening of the documentary Finding St. Anthony: A Story of Loss and Light on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 7pm.  Following the screening, producer/director Ed Roy will talk about the making of this film, and he will answer questions from the audience.

Shot on historic locations in Portugal and Italy, this 50 minute film focuses on the experiences of Fernando Martins de Bulhões, a 13th century  Christian, as he sought to find his spiritual direction.  He is now known as the much-beloved St. Anthony of Padua by Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

Ed Roy and the Hudson Valley-based J6  Mediaworks  produced this film with the help of the Salt and Light Catholic Media Foundation, and a generous contribution from the Longo family which has had a lifelong devotion to St. Anthony of Padua.

Seating is on a first come basis; advance registration is available at eventbrite.findingstanthony.com (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/finding-st-anthony-a-story-o...).  There is no charge for tickets, but a free will offering at the door to support the ministries of the friars is always welcome.  Refreshments will be served after the film. The screening will take place at Graymoor Spiritual Life Center in the 3rd floor Seminar Room.  Graymoor is located at 1350 Route 9 in Garrison, NY.  For more information, call the Graymoor Spiritual Life Center, (845) 424-2111 or email GSLC@atonementfriars.org .

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement are a Roman Catholic order of brothers and priests founded in 1898 by Fr. Paul Wattson, SA at Graymoor in Garrison.  Since that time, the Friars have worked for reconciliation and healing through “at-one-ment” — the unity of men and women with God and with one another —  so that the prayer of Jesus “that they all may be one” might be fulfilled.  Through their mission and ministries they serve people of every race, religion, and walk of life. Their social ministries help the poor, the needy, and the homeless; people living with HIV; frail and elderly in hospitals and hospices; those in prison; and people seeking recovery from alcoholism and chemical addictions.
Their ecumenical work makes them leaders of the international movement to heal the divisions within Christianity and among all faiths.  Through their prayers and pastoral ministries, they bring spiritual renewal, unity, harmony, and reconciliation throughout the world and carry the Gospel message to three continents.
