BROOKLYN, N.Y. - May 16, 2014 - PRLog -- When painter Tara Dixon ended her eighteen year marriage, her passion to help others came into light. Combining her artistic talent and the gratitude she had developed throughout her marriage, Dixon created 40 paintings containing the words, “Thank You.” She then started a company called Gratitude Designs (http://gratitudedesigns.com/) based on these paintings. This process not only helped her heal emotionally, but also inspired her to establish a nonprofit project called “The Gratitude House.”

“I wanted to share the tool of gratitude – this notion that changes everything – through the arts,” said Dixon, who now teaches the meaning of gratitude through art, and her nonprofit project The Gratitude House. She believes that happiness can be achieved through recognizing and appreciating all of the gifts of life.

Dixon has already led a successful Gratitude Workshop at Virayoga studio earlier this year. The next Gratitude Workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at the Virayoga studio located at 580 Broadway, Floor 2, New York, NY 10012.

The goal of Dixon’s workshops are to gather and explore gratitude.  Each participant will receive a gratitude journal, and participate in meditation and other exercises. Registration is $40, and can be made online at http://thegratitudehouse.org.

“Tara has a passion for gratitude and a gift for sharing it,” said Elena Brower, yoga guru and owner of Virayoga. “Gratitude is central to what I teach and practice, and it's such a sweetness to see Tara working with gratitude so fully. Her work is creative, completely visionary, and super‐simple enough for the students to take home and incorporate into their daily lives.”

The charitable mission of The Gratitude House is to teach the notion of gratitude through the arts by conducting a mobile program that visits school groups and other organizations offering interactive workshops on gratitude. Through various exercises and hands‐on activities, the subject of gratitude is broken down and explored. Dixon believes that gratitude is the key to happiness, peace of mind, and successful relationships. Donations made to The Gratitude House are tax‐deductible.

The Gratitude House is sponsored by UCP, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fiscal sponsor of active charitable programs. Through UCP, Dixon is able to focus solely on his program’s charitable mission, rather than on the administrative burdens that an independent nonprofit can have.
