Avon Cleanup Day A Big Success--Big Big Big

Coordinated Effort Between Town and Industrial Park Association Makes Everyone Proud

AVON, Mass. - May 16, 2014 - PRLog -- The Town of Avon, lead by Tara Tradd of the Board of Health, and the Avon Industrial Park Association (AIPA), led by Bob Costa and Emad Muntasser put their resources together and came away with some great results.

Many families participated, collecting litter in multiple neighborhoods in town, and several businesses pitched in with both employees and donations to get the job done up and down Bodwell Street.

The town received support from the Avon Cooperative Bank, Costco, Dunkin Donuts, National Grid, Walmart and Waste Management.

The industrial park received very generous donations from Larry Cohen and his manager Matt at Restaurant Depot,  and Bob Costa from BC Tent: supplies, snacks, beverages and t-shirts. Scott Berry of Strafello Inc donated the use of a pickup truck and dumpster for the project.

Rick Anderson, Scott Anastasio, and Rick Pitti from Charles Sheehy Co, Dave from Escoto Landscaping, and Rob Morris from Asplundh Construction all gave us an example of how working men work. Emad Muntasser and Antonio, his employee at Logan Furniture, worked the entire length of Bodwell Street without so much as a single break. Dr. Kishore of Preventive Medicine Associates proved that physicians can do manual labor (really!); Tom Foynes of Grow Associates took a few thorns for the team (much to his regret, we're sure). President of AIPA, Bob Costa, broke away from a busy morning for BC Tent to pitch in (pun intended) with the rest of the troops.

And speaking of troops, AIPA was priveleged to have three young men from the ROTC Program at Bridgewater State University on site to volunteer their efforts. Future lieutenants Andrew, Andres and Mark will be commissioned this week and demonstrated why the future of our military is in good hands.

All in all, an enormous amount of trash was collected; the town and park are ready for spring and summer and we all look forward to our next joint project.

Thank you to all who participated!
