By: Dearing Studio Arizona’s original movie camp, “Valleywood” Campers have three separate week-long camps to choose from and back by special demand is a video contest prior to the start of camps whereby one lucky camper will win his or her camp during the third week absolutely free. A one-week movie camp at Dearing Acting Studio is valued at $425. “Our goal at Valleywood Movie Camp is to help our campers produce a movie that they can be proud of and also to equip them with the skills and knowledge for them to go on after our camps and write, shoot, edit and eventually produce a movie all on their own,” said Brian Sweeney, Valleywood Camp Director. Valleywood Movie Camp, open to campers of all ages begins with a study of the script along with pre-production. Once campers have been cast in their roles, rehearsal begins and filming gets underway soon thereafter. When not in front of the camera, campers learn lighting, videography and directing. Once the thrilling week is over and students have learned the process of filmmaking, they will walk the red carpet in an exciting movie premiere, filled with adoring family, friends and fans, an awards ceremony and a showing of their film. It’s a week they will never soon forget! In order to be eligible for the free Valleywood movie camp video contest, campers must produce a YouTube video, 1-3 minutes in length. Once completed, they need to submit their entry to the Dearing Studio on or before May 21. The most important step of the contest is for participants to heavily promote their video as the camper that receives the most views of their video by May 28, will win a free spot in week 3 of the Valleywood Movie Camp. First runner-up in the contest will receive a Dearing Acting Studio T-shirt and $200 towards their Valleywood Movie Camp. All participants in the video contest will receive a $35 credit towards their Valleywood registration. Video content for the YouTube video contest is totally left up to the participant, but Sweeney stresses that the person who can promote their video the best will ultimately be the winner. “We urge all of our contest applicants to get their family and friends involved and if they’re lucky enough to have one of their favorite celebrities retweet their video, well that will be hard to beat.” Week 3 of the Valleywood movie camp will be held on July 7-11 from 9am – 2:30pm and will cost $425. The winner of Nickelodeon’ Dearing Acting Studio is located at 10806 N. 32nd Street in Phoenix.
