At the age of 24, he got initiated into the practical pursuit of Brahma-vidya from Baba Gangadhara Paramahamsa (Swami Bhoomananda ji’s Gurudev) of Dakshinkhanda, West Bengal. In 1987, Swami Nirviseshananda renounced his professional life as a scientist and assistant professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Kharagpur, to dedicate himself wholesomely to the service of Poojya Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha in all aspects of his mission: Knowledge dissemination, socio-religious reformation movements, and environmental protection.
