Golden Gate Invitational, Honorary Chair Announcement

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee to Serve as Honorary Chair for the American Cancer Society 18th Annual Golden Gate Invitational

SAN FRANCISCO - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- The American Cancer Society Golden Gate Invitational Council has invited San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee to serve as honorary chair for the 18th annual Golden Gate Invitational golf tournament.  The tournament will be held on September 15, 2014 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Leading business executives, professionals and concerned citizens throughout the Bay Area will join Mayor Lee to help the American Cancer Society continue to make progress in the fight against cancer. This event will play a vital role in funding important local programs that affect a cancer patient's quality of life through treatment, education and preventive services. Projects that have significant potential to achieve breakthrough discoveries in cancer causation or treatment will also receive support. Each year, the American Cancer Society helps cancer patients everywhere get the help they need when they need it. For example, last year alone the American Cancer Society assisted more than a million people who called for help, providing free services such as a place to stay while traveling for treatment, rides to treatment, emotional support, and much more.

Since its inception in 1997, the Golden Gate Invitational has raised more than $5.5 million benefitting the American Cancer Society, a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service.
