| Local Carpenters Union Recognizes Local Carpenters and Community Members at Annual BanquetBy: Group 7even Keynote speaker, John Carr, IKORCC Business Representative, made a presentation on “going the extra degree” as a union carpenter and as an organization, explaining that just one degree can make all the difference. Carr challenged the membership to continue to go that extra degree to be the most efficient, productive and professional carpenters in the industry. “This event is very important to us,” said John Carr. “To look out and see over 300 carpenters and their families is amazing, and we are very proud to honor these men and women who work so hard all year for their families and are building the future of our community.” To conclude his speech, Carr presented local community members with awards that recognized them for their contributions to our community. Awards and recipients are as follows: Voice of Labor – awarded to Indiana State Representative Ed Soliday Voice of Labor – awarded to Indiana State Senator Karen Tallian Teamwork Award – awarded to LaPorte County Commissioners Willie Milsap, Dave Decker and Dr. Vidya Kora Commitment to Excellence – awarded to Valparaiso University Ambassador Award – awarded to Bill Nunley (Construction Manager at NIPSCO) IKORCC 68-year member – awarded to Irving Nelson “We’re so grateful to be a part of such a generous and compassionate community,” said Mike Stavitzke, IKORCC Senior Manager. “Every year we host this event to recognize all of the individuals and organizations that make everything we do possible, and it’s so great to be able to get together and celebrate with such a terrific group of people.” The Indiana/Kentucky/ End
