The Denver proposed VA Hospital is still incomplete and will not be completed until at least 2017. Our WWII veterans are dying at the rate of 1500/day and our Korean and Vietnam at the rate of 1000/day. Do the math! Over 4.5 million veterans will die without the care and benefits they were promised. The VA serves over 400,000 veterans in Colorado. How many of our comrades are being neglected?? How many more must die before these atrocities STOP?? We believe the VA leadership has lost sight of its mission of care for our veterans and we the leaders of The American Legion, Department of Colorado, concur with Commander Dellinger that this bureaucratic incompetence MUST STOP NOW!!! We want and need leadership in the VA that can fulfill their responsibilities to our veterans. We also call for the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, Under Secretary of Health Robert Petzel and Under Secretary of Benefits Allison Hickey. We send our condolences and prayers to the families of the veterans lost due to these atrocities! - - 30 - - For More Information Contact Pat Smith, Adjutant Department of Colorado, or Darrell Myers Department Public Relations Officer at 303-366-5201 or by e-mail at observer@coloradolegion.org End
