Home Inspections - Not just for Buyers. They can be a great tool for Home Sellers as well

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - April 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Home inspections are quite common in home sale transactions as a tool used by buyers to protect themselves from buying into a set of problems.

"While optional, I recommend that most home buyers hire a licensed home inspector to identify and potential problems that they may not want to inherit," says  John Kreiss, a  REALTOR, with Prudential Prime Properties, serving Central Mass Communities.

Home inspections are tyically paid for by buyers, and if problems are uncovered, buyers can then try to renegotiate their transactions, or walk away altogether, with no penalties.

Kreiss, advises, however, that home inspections can also be greats tool for home sellers prior to listing .

"By having a licensed home inspector do a thorough inspection, a seller can identify potential problems before they even market their home, and identify potential problems before buyers are even identified.  It's painful and frustrating, for sellers to get offers, and then see them collapse due to items found in home inspections,"  says Kreiss.

Some REALTORS, including Kreiss, offer to pay for sellers to have the inspection done, as part of their listing service package.

"But not all REALTORS are willing to cover this cost, and It's something that may be worth investigating prior to listing."
