Spencer Lodge and Fund Advisers Launch Invaluable Seminars for Expats Spending Through Their Savings

Managing Director Spencer Lodge of Fund Advisers respond to customer demand to run urgent financial workshops for expats in Dubai

BUSINESS BAY, UAE - April 29, 2014 - PRLog -- With new research suggesting that the UAE’s legion of expats are flying through their savings and buying more luxury goods than ever before at the cost of their future back home, Dubai’s leading financial company, Fund Advisers have launched a series of three seminars to help British and European expats make the best of their tax-free income – before they spend it all. Research suggests that on average, just 18% of professionals save anything, with those that do put a portion of their tax free savings aside contributing as little as 10% of their income to their nest egg each month. With more than 80% of expats succumbing to the lure of luxury living at the cost of their financial health, experts warn that now is the time to act or face a very bleak future at a considerably lower standard of living further down the line.

Spencer Lodge, Managing Director at Fund Advisers said: "Moving to a new country can be incredibly tricky where finances are concerned, especially when it comes to tax legislation, pension and investments. We have seen first hand how many of those who plan to work in the UAE in order to set themselves up for a new life back home race through their salaries and savings to such an extent that they are worse off when they return home years later.

“Others are unsure what to do with their higher salaries and hesitate on investment and pension planning through a lack of expertise. We have found that many expats want reassurance that they are doing the right thing personally and for their loved ones and need real facts and advice before their income gets spent, so we have launched a string of free seminars with leading experts, which will hopefully give some panicked expats a little peace of mind about their spending.”

The trio of savvy seminars from Fund Advisers are a timely wake up call to the more than half of UAE professionals that freely admit to not having saved enough cash for the future. Each breakfast and dinner briefing puts financial planning and security back on the agenda for the growing number of expats succumbing to the ‘buy now’ lifestyle and trappings of wealth in the region. The events are designed to dispel the money myths related to income and pensions in the UAE, offering up-to-the-minute advice on pensions and investments that could see expats becoming a little more sensible with their savings.

Fund Advisers are the region’s leading experts on investments, pensions and general management of finances for the affluent expats of Dubai and the UAE. Famous for removing the complicated jargon and tricky terminology associated with much financial advice, the team’s reality check comes at a crucial time for those living the high life in the UAE without realising that more and more colleagues are going home poorer than when they arrived in the region.

The Fund Advisers round tables consist of two breakfast seminars and one evening seminar. The duo of breakfast meetings will be held at The Address Downtown, and will include a continental breakfast. The UK pensions evening seminar will be held at the Trade Centre tower, where cocktails and canapés will be served. Attendance at the three events is free, but reservations are required to secure a place.

Research shows that, despite their proclivity to spend, spend, spend, 94% of expats in the region are actively putting money away for the purposes of saving and investment,. However, just a third of those polled said they sought expert advice on how to invest their money, meaning some could miss out on the financial benefits their money could afford them. The seminars - which will feature appearances from Richard Burden of Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management and Stephen Ward, Managing Director of Premier Pension Solutions – will remove the complication that is associated with much financial advice, and will put British and European expats back in the driving seat when it comes to managing their funds and planning for a more comfortable future back home.
