BANGALORE, India - April 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The iW-RainboW-G17M-Q7 is Cyclone V SOC based R2.0 Qseven compatible SOM module. The SOM includes DDR3 memory, flash memory, and common interface controllers with Linux and Windows Embedded Compact 7board support package (BSP) support.

The Cyclone V SoC is integrated with an ARM-based hard processor system (HPS) and FPGA fabric. The HPS consists of processor, peripherals, and memory interfaces.  The FPGA and HPS are interconnected with a high-bandwidth backbone.

Linux BSP support for Cyclone V SoC SOM

The Linux BSP software package for iW-RainboW-G17M-Q7 is based on Yocto project. It comprises of following two packages:

·         The source code package, including the Linux kernel source code, the U-BOOT source code as well as the source code required to rebuild the root file system

·         The tool chain (GCC-4.7) is also included in source code form

The initial supported Linux kernel and U-Boot versions are linux-3.10, u-boot-v2013.01.01 respectively.

The U-Boot supports below devices:

·         512MB of DDR3 HPS RAM

·         10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet

·         Console UART

·         QSPI NOR Flash

·         SD memory

The Kernel Supports below devices:

·         QSPI NOR Flash

·         10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet

·         SD Slot

·         USB 2.0 HUB

·         CAN port

·         I2C Ports

·         UART Ports

·         LVDS display ports

·         PCIe port

·         Capacitive mutli-touch

·         GPIO

Windows Embedded Compact 7 BSP support for Cyclone V SoC Qseven SOM:

The Windows Embedded Compact 7 BSP consists the following:

·         The OEM adaptation layer (OAL), which is the interface between the kernel and the hardware

·         The boot loader, which initializes the hardware, loads the OS run-time image into memory, and jumps to the OS start-up routine

·         The device drivers, which is a software component that lets the operating system and a device communicate with each other

The Eboot Supports below devices:

·         512MB of DDR3 HPS RAM

·         Console UART

·         QSPI NOR Flash

·         SD memory

The OEM adaptation layer (OAL) Supports following:

·         Windows Embedded Compact 7 OAL Functions for SMP is supported

·         Interrupt handling

·         Timer(Scheduler timer)

·         NEON – FPU

·         KITL support on Ethernet

The following device drivers are supported:

·         QSPI NOR Flash

·         10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet

·         SD Slot

·         I2C Ports

·         UART Ports

·         LVDS display ports

·         PCIe port
