PORTLAND, Ore. - April 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Local women’s specialty athletic apparel, gear and accessory retailer, Aries Apparel has set its spring and summer “pop-up store” schedule at local softball tournaments.  If you are attending a major softball tournament, chances are you will see one of the company’s popular temporary retail stores there.

This softball season, Aries will set up the “pop-up stores” at over 28 fast pitch tournaments.  The stores are very popular with players and their families.  Since its inception in 2008, one of the innovative strategies that the retailer has employed is to take a miniature version of its popular retail store “to the people” at events where elite athletes compete.  Aries targets volleyball, softball, basketball, soccer, swimming, gymnastics, cheer and dance competitions.  In 2013 they celebrated their 500th pop-up store event.

“It has been such an important element in our marketing approach,” said Diana Marsden, owner of Aries Apparel.  “We have a much wider geographic customer base than most traditional brick and mortar retailers because of the pop-up stores.  Our athlete/customers and their parents are able to browse our merchandise while they are on site taking part in elite competitions and those girls are from all over the region.”

The pop-up stores account for 15% of Aries annual sales and they also generate a large percentage of the company’s affinity shopping list and social media following.  Aries has invested in partnering with organizations that put on various sporting events as well as sponsoring local schools, teams and youth recreation programs.

Locally owned and operated, the original Aries Apparel is located at 1890 NW 188th Avenue in Hillsboro near Tanasbourne. The company also opened its second store recently at Clackamas Town Center.

Aries Apparel carries everything a female athletes needs to play including sports bras, gloves, jewelry, headbands, scarves, socks, hats, water bottles and bags as well as sport-specific accessories such as goggles, kneepads, glove oil, braces and ankle guards and shin guards. Hundreds of athletic brands are found within the store including Nike, Asics, Puma, Under Armour, Danskin, Mizuno, Enell, Champion, Wilson, Moving Comfort, Speedo, Under Armour, Brooks, adidas and STX.
