DENTON, Texas - April 14, 2014 - PRLog -- DIY Bed Liner Kits are typically between 20-30 mils in height.  Let’s take a brief look at the main competitors for bed liner out there.  This will show you the truth behind DIY bed liner companies.

Herculiner

Amount in 6ft bed kit = 1 gallon

Mil height = 1604/31.25 = 51.33 sq ft @ 1/32”

8ft bed kit = 1.25 gallons

Mil Height = 1604*1.25/31.25 = 64.16 sq ft @ 1/32”

The Point:  There is not enough material here to get the acclaimed 1/16”-1/32” bed liner.  This is supposedly America’s number one choice for DIY Bed Liner.  They are not being truthful about coverage.  How is that?  The reality is that most people don’t check and can’t check.

Materials: Two rollers; One roller handle; Abrasive pad to prepare truck bed; Gallon can opener;

Best as we can tell there is about $7.00 worth of material in this kit besides the bed liner.  So, for $100.00 not including shipping you get 1 gallon of material and pretty much nothing to apply it with.

Al's Liner

Al's Liner is not easy to get a hold of.  You can find it on sites like Rakuten and Amazon.com.  The materials or sold at a wide range of prices from 80-120 for the same kit.  The is applicator tool provided with this.  You must buy a spray-gun seperately which brings the cost of one gallon up to 160 for a one gallon kit which is a hefty price for what seems an inexpensive DIY sytem that still does NOT deliver the proper material for the job.

Raptor by U-POL

This is a pretty fair product.  Simple to use, seems to last very well, but the main issue again is the LACK of material.  One gallon supposedly works on an 8 ft bed.  This is not true and if you scour the forums, you will see people often buying 2 kits for one truck bed.  This makes sense.  But, even that is not enough material for an 8 ft bed.  That makes the cost of this product for an 8 ft bed at close to $360.00.

Spray-Lining Facts

PREP

We tell you straight up:  There is serious prep on your truck if it’s in bad condition.  Do not be fooled, prep is the key to a long lasting bed liner. A scuff pad is not going to prep anything properly.

Material for 8 Ft Bed

As for the 1.25 gallons of material for an 8 ft bed, we do not deny that you can use that much material to coat your bed.  But, just like the professional companies, we believe that you cannot get a long lasting durable coating from a bedliner that's less than 1/32" throughout.

Our material for an 8 ft bed at professional thickness is $287.00 which includes a professional spray gun with 15 settings, 5 gallons of material at 100 mils, personalized tech support for creating smooth to rough, fine to course textures with our variable mix formula.

The Roller Versus the Spray Gun

When a quality gun is used a few things happen.  One very important thing is that you can control the texture of your liner.  Two, you can apply your material very fast compared to a roller.  Three, you get the added benefits of pressure in the application process which helps to accelerate the set time of the materials.

What does Spray-Lining Do Differently?

We represent out product for exactly what it is; A high grade poly hybrid that coats 60 or 80 sq ft at 60 mils or 80 mils.  That's the deal.  That's what we do.  There is no mystery about a bed liner.  It needs to be thick enough and it has to have good adhesion/elongation and impact resistance.  Our DIY kit meets all of these requirements.  It seems a little more expensive upon first glance, but if you look at what you actually get, you will see we are simply providing the PROPER amount of material for your diy project with no gimic or care for what the other companies are supposedly giving you.

This is a new product line being offered after a large effort to address the DIY bed liner market by Flexible Lining Systems and Spray-Lining.  Check out the site spray-lining.com and see what you've been missing.  This site addresses Trucks, Boats, Decks, Workshop floors and any other surface you can imagine.
