Barclays expat clients affected by the sale of their business to ADIB urged to take immediate action

“it is critical that Barclays clients in the UAE decide now whether they wish their current accounts, loans and investments to be moved to Abu Dhabi’s Islamic Bank"

April 9, 2014 - PRLog -- With 110,000 current accounts and loans, mostly belonging to expat workers in the Middle East “it is critical that Barclays clients decide now whether they wish their current accounts, loans and investments to be moved to Abu Dhabi’s Islamic Bank (ADIB) – if not, they must take advice and move their assets to a new asset manager and bank of their choice” urges Sam Instone, CEO of the multi-award winning financial adviser AES International with offices in Dubai and Qatar.

Barclays customers who decide to go with Barclays’ decision to move their accounts to ADIB will have to switch any financial products they hold to comply with ADIB’s strict rules on Islamic finance, the best known feature of which being the prohibition on interest.

Sam Instone also commented that “if a Barclays client is happy with the move of their account to ADIB, we would still strongly encourage clients with high asset values to consider using an independent wealth manager who understands the expat market with offshore banking facilities.”

AES International is offering clients affected by the closure of their Barclays accounts a complimentary review of their banking and investment arrangements. AES’ offices are conveniently located above the Barclays Emaar Square branch in Dubai if Barclays’ clients want to drop in and discuss their options, or they can talk with an AES financial adviser.
