Follow on Google News | Pursuing Their Dreams Despite the Storm - PRA Kids Refuse NOT to PerformApril 2014 - Despite a perfect storm of budget cuts, hyper-focus on testing and lack of resources, this group of Colorado kids decide to face the storm head on.
By: Prospect Ridge Academy The kids at Prospect Ridge Academy (PRA) have determined not to miss the opportunity to develop crucial leadership skills for their future and have, against all odds, created their own drama club. Drama Club President and PRA seventh grader, Maya Claridge, says, “Theatre gives us something regular academic classes can’t. It opens our minds, helps us express new ideas, encourages us to try new things on stage and makes us feel that there really is no limit to what we can create and become.” Claridge (President) and eighth grader, Bryan Lucchesi, (Vice President) are both active actors in the local community and started the drama club program at PRA last fall. The students at PRA are putting on their first middle school theatrical production of Miss Nelson is Missing on May 9th and May 10th at 7:00pm at Prospect Ridge Academy, located at 2555 Preble Creek Parkway in Broomfield, Colorado. Tickets are $5.00 general admission and will be on sale at the doors thirty minutes before curtain. Come out and support these kids who are unwavering in their efforts to prove that, despite a lack of funding, they can weather the storm and continue to protect the vital resource of arts education and the theatre experience in their school.
