April 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Boston (April 1, 2014) Haymakers for Hope, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is proud to announce its fourth annual “Haymakers for Hope Rock ‘n Rumble” boxing charity event taking place at the House of Blues® Boston on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.

Twenty-eight courageous men and women throughout Boston and Greater Boston will compete in boxing matches during the night to help raise money for cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Haymakers for Hope’s mission is to knockout cancer the only way they know how, by literally fighting for a cure. Some participants are fighting for loved ones who have been struck with the disease, and some are fighting for overcoming cancer themselves. Whatever the individual fight, all train together in small groups at partnering boxing gyms.

“We’re exceptionally proud of this year’s group of participants,” said Co-Founder Andrew Myerson. “Our fighters are getting to the gym four or five days a week, and we’ve been hearing a lot of stories of team training, even with their opponent. Our local boxing gyms have done a phenomenal job of building a sense of camaraderie amongst this special group and embracing the Haymakers for Hope mantra that not every fight ends at the bell.”

Each participant is paired with one of several local gym sponsors who provide free, professional boxing training in the months leading up to the Haymakers for Hope Rock ‘n’ Rumble. Haymakers for Hope gives everyday men and women the opportunity to fight back against this terrible disease by giving them the chance to compete in charity boxing events to raise money and awareness. Since its inception of live charity boxing events in 2011, Haymakers for Hope has raised over $2 million to help KO cancer through the annual Boston and NYC shows.

“Marking the fourth year of receiving support from Haymakers for Hope, Dana-Farber applauds the co-founders Andrew and Julie and the local amateur participants for their dedication,” said Suzanne Fountain, director of the Jimmy Fund. “We value and appreciate their training and determination in raising funds for pediatric and adult cancer care and research.”

General admission tickets are $75 (standing room only), VIP packages are available for $150 and box seating & sponsorship packages begin at $250. For more information or to purchase tickets please visit www.haymakersforhope.org.
